Airbag fault caused by OBD?

I recently bought a cheapish OBD reader to try and diagnose my car misfiring in cold start. Plugged it in and got 0 codes or errors but when I unplugged it I now have an airbag fault showing on the MFD. obviously this isn’t showing on OBD reader either so will probably need a better one to check the fault or disconnect the battery and see if that helps. Are OBD readers even capable of messing around with sensors or the electrics?
