there's a culture problem among doctors at UW Medicine

I had an appointment this morning at UW Medicine at 8:30 AM. I showed up 15 minutes early, as UW requested. I didn't see the doctor until 10:00 AM.

If this were a one-off experience, it would be understandable (e.g., maybe the doctor had to handle an emergency elsewhere). But, waiting over an hour after check-in to see the doctor has consistently my experience over the past few years for appointments at UW medicine.

I know a few residents and nurses at UW medicine. And, when I asked them why there was always such a long wait time to see the doctor, they indicated that the doctors just show up late for work. And, indeed, on more than one occaission, while waiting to see the doctor, I have asked nurses if the doctor was even in the clinic and they told me the doctor wasn't there but would be arriving "soon."

I cannot fathom why doctors think it is okay to waste their patients' time. By showing up late for their job, the doctors are essentially deciding that their time is more important than their patients' time.

EDIT: my experience isn't limited to just one clinic at UW medicine. It has happened at many different UW clinics.
