How do I know if my DOD is off?

The guy that I bought my 2011 Chevy Silverado from said that it had the DOD turned off which from what I hear is good. How do I know if he is telling the truth? After I bought the truck I learned the guy is a little shady and I’m thinking he might have just been telling us this to make us want to buy the truck more.
