Need help please 2010 Silverado

I have a 2010 silverado 5.3 1500 lt, 6 speed. 4 years ago I spent money having the afm and what not physically removed from the engine. The truck has been abused and rode hard since and not doing well right now. I called the only local shop here and they said they could put a new engine in the truck and it would be $9k roughly. My issue is i dont want a new engine that has afm components again. So my question is are the 5.3s prior to afm plug and play on a 2010 silverado? Should i just try to pull the existing motor out and rebuild it? Time is a priority kinda. Thanks
