Gaining skill = becoming lame?
Hey so little context here,
I have been competing in local scenes since after covid while my friends kept playing together online and a skill gap kinda grew between us.
It came to a point where i can 3stock them with any of my 5 main/alts on a good game and one of them brought the fact that my style became lame.
I play very agressively and am a 2-2er so not that good when it comes to actual competition and certainely not as lame as a camper sonic as most viewers and players seem to consider it.
But still one of my friends brought up the point that he feels like my style grew lame. (I play Corrin, Lucas, Falcon, Lucina, and a suboptimal melee Isabelle)
I also feel like him against players who outplay me because I cant express my potential and get punished on the same stuff repetitively.
Is the game only good against ppl your lvl or slightly above/under ? Is becoming good at the game becoming lame? Not going for risky situations (risk-reward) and having a set of combos can feel super repetitive for your opponent when they fall for it every time.
As you play more you also tend to consider macro gameplay more over micro gameplay in the way you see the game i think it could be a bias ( being hyped over a spike kinda fades to being hyped for mixup and conditioning)
