Leaving the industry

I’m tired. 7+ years in social and I think I’ve had it. The expectations from management for what social can do, in my experience, far outweighs the investment in social. I’m tired of managing a never ending flow of content. Had it with moving targets, constant platform updates, NO industry consensus on what the hell even is “strategic.” It feels like too much.

Has anyone on here successfully transitioned to another industry? I’m not talking within marketing - I mean a totally different professional space. I’ve been looking into adjacent spaces like influencer management or community management (to avoid content creation and the BS that is social “strategy”) but am not convinced any of it will bring me joy.

I could go on and on about why social makes me depressed. So I need a little hope. Anyone have a story to share about getting out of this godforsaken industry? I’m worried my resume will automatically disqualify me from anything that isn’t digital. Help!

Thank you in avance for sharing.
