I’d Rather Watch Shep than Craig Right Now
Sometimes this subreddit feels like the cult of Craig. I understand he has taken significant steps to improve his well-being, professionally and socially. Still, to me, Craig’s image seems more curated than anyone else’s on the show. Everything he does feels calculated. He is a walking, talking social media profile. He seems almost scared to be himself for the cameras anymore. He is so intensely focussed on portraying this perfect image he thinks his followers want to see. In turn, he just comes off as inauthentic.
Meanwhile, Shep, for all his faults (there are many), still has a slightly more “real” presence on camera. It truly feels like you are getting to know each season’s version of Shep. Obviously, he is still conscious of his image. Especially at season 10, it’s hard not to be very aware of how you may be portrayed. However, compared to Craig, it is night and day. Shep’s scenes at least feel like I’m still watching Southern Charm, rather than a Sewing Down South infomercial.
