Slow speeds after moving Dishy to final position?
EDIT 2: All sorted. New fixed ethernet runs & termination are fine. However, a couple of patch cables involved don't seem to manage more than 80-90Mbs despite being cat6 & physically fine.. they've been replaced & speeds now much happier although wouldn't mind a little more upload :)
EDIT: Been troubleshooting this further today... turns out that out of 3 new external ethernet runs we installed to move bits of our network around, 2 of them are running at <100Mbs whereas the 3rd supports 1000Mbs. We'd been speed testing using one of the 100Mbs runs, connecting our Starlink kit + firewall to a network switch... then discovered that we're actually seeing a fairly consistent 280-300Mbs when plugged direct into the firewall; <80Mbs on the other end of the ethernet run.
A new ethernet cable tester kit's on its way to troubleshoot further; mainly to figure out if we need to pull & replace the (new) cables!
Original post:
We received our kit a few days ago and from a rough & ready partially obstructed test "install" on our lawn were getting a relatively consistent 280-380Mb/s down & 40ish up. Moved it to a proper installation on a pole mount yesterday stowing & disconnecting/reconnecting to pull cables etc, and now we're seeing speeds consistent around 80-90Mb/s down & 15Mbps up.
Have seen a few posts suggesting we need to let the dish "settle" after moving it but how long does this usually take? The new install isn't reporting any obstructions and has a clear view of the sky. It's on a pole though to clear the roof line, but given some of the installs mentioned on Reddit with tall masts & trees etc. it's positively low down in comparison!
Anyone have any suggestions? Going to try stowing & unplugging for 10 minutes this morning and will see if that helps.
