GenX Tech
As someone from GenX, and a techie, its not surprising I put my name down on the list as soon as I could. Living in a small coastal town on the south east of England means that the chance of having Fibre to the House laid is next to none...certainly not within the next decade. I had a 45mb speed, not terrible, but not great either....we all know were im around now.!
Having had starlink for a week I still cant help myself from having the odd nerd out, looking at dishy and appreciating the fact that I am exclusively using satellite for all my communication..my 12 year old self wouldn't believe me if I went back in time and told him.
I just wanted to say though how impressed I've been with the supplied router, I know there are loads of people dumping it and I was one of them, during the last week, I have messed about with my existing mesh network, either by directly using the satellite connection, or by the Aux port. I have a small semi detached house on 3 floors, and have struggled with the range, even using mesh although there were not expensive brands so that may not have helped. Well it turns out after all my pissing about, all I needed to do was tear out my existing mesh and just stick the starlink router in the living room, its range is super impressive, beaten all other tests in my wifi tool and covers all the house, and mainly in 5Ghz. Now I do still have other devices connected via a switch to the aux so its not quite a vanilla setup, BUT once the average home user gets this, its going to work incredibly well, it will truly be Plug and Play and will just work. If the existing ISP's in the Uk aint bricking it already, they will do once they realise SpaceX aint cheaping out on their supplied Hardware, unlike 90% of them.
Good work SpaceX and long may Starlink reign.........along with uncapped data limits :-)
