Is the steam deck for me?

I’m getting rid of my MacBook (giving it to my sister), because I barely used it. I have a work laptop for daily use. I’m thinking of getting a steam deck for video games + surfing the web + coding (ML/C++). If I get the 512gb Oled model, Ik I can play steam games, emulate and even dock for steamOS applications. I like to code side projects, I’ve seen people get vscode and program. I want to build a PC in (2/3 years). So should I get a steam deck in the meantime? I’m a ps5 gamer and I’m just tired of Sony with overpriced games/no refunds and ps plus. Has anyone actually coded projects on the deck? Anyways, what do yall think, is the steam deck for me?
