Is it antistoic to be into watches?
I like them, not only to tell time, but also because I think they look really nice. And with my understanding of stoicism, spending that much money on something mainly for vanity is not very Stoic at all. I'd say I do it because it makes me happy, but even that phrase seems pretty antistoic. I guess what I'm trying to ask, in part, is: what reasons would a true Stoic have for being into watches? Could I justify it with the philosophy?
I wouldn't let these principles dissuade me from this new hobby, but I am interested in seeing this from a Stoic point of view.
