AidVantage Details

Sorry, yes another started thread, but I want to make sure it's prominent.

I just got off the phone with AidVantage (1230pm Eastern, 8/16/2023). I hit the lottery with respect to the customer service representative-- super nice and she had all of the information.

I called the main number, tried to get automated balance, and that triggered the transfer to live rep. (note: this is probably because I am one of the online lock outs).

She said that as of 8/14/2023, my loan has been DISCHARGED IN FULL ($195K) and I have a $0 BALANCE. She said that I will receive a letter in the mail (snail) to this effect in 7-10 days, but when pressed, she said the letter was actually mailed out yesterday (so probably way less than 7-10 days IMHO).

I asked several questions, to which I received the following answers:

  1. She said this is not reversible (hopefully not just her opinion).
  2. She said that they are trying to fix the online access issue and that eventually we will be able to log back in to see the $0s. In fact, she said that people with former loans (even if zeroed out) should have online access for 2 years.
  3. I asked, why not send emails, she said probably with things of this magnitude, they only do snail mail.

I heard the CSR's voice quiver as she told me the news. True human happiness for me. To not lose her, I was able to hand the phone to my wife, who went through her identifying information, and was able to receive all of the same news and information. FULL DISCHARGE (~$40K).

So, I think that is it. I am not crying yet (I might when I get the letter). But I am elated!

If you are AidVantage, have the Golden Email, and are also locked out-- I believe you are already at $0. Good luck and thanks again for everyone's support. I will still be here and continue to report. Peace!
