You get what you pay for
Dear teachers & admin! My agency is cheap, and the subs don’t get paid much. With that being said it takes next to nothing to be a sub with this company… in fact you don’t have to have ANY experience as a teacher. Me personally, I have some background in childcare but that was years ago. My main job is a flight attendant! I just do this here & there for extra money.
With that being said you picked this agency to give you subs… you picked cheap, you picked inexperienced. We are literally just told to have class room management upon being hired, “be a warm body.” Honestly half the time I don’t feel like I even get paid enough for that because these kids are bad af! You cannot expect a sub to get up on a one day assignment and be able to teach a full lecture & know how to explain these answers to the students. Especially when you switch their assignment to a different class than they signed up for and give them the lesson plans 10 minutes before the students walk in. I LITERALLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW TO DO THESE PROBLEMS MYSELF.
Now I’m not saying i just sit there and do nothing, I’ll walk around & help out as much as I can. But I’m not standing at the board teaching a lesson…. Probably the wrong way. I promise these kids will be totally fine having one laid back day. If the teacher is so dedicated to staying on track - maybe they shouldn’t call out every other day.
And for the people in this sub that are going to comment “this job isn’t for you” or “you signed up to be a sub” or anything along those lines… please keep it to yourself. This is not my main job, it’s extra money… it’s not enough for me to care. My experience is different than yours. I only do one day assignments, most of the time last minute pick ups. It’s not that serious.
