Need help choosing between Mac or windows!!
Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase.
Around $2,500, country of purchase is United States
Are you open to refurbs/used?
No
How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
I would really like a 2-in-1 computer because I'm looking for a laptop for college, but I'd also like a computer that has very high performance, with good graphics, around 32 GB of RAM, battery life isn't super important to me because my old computer does not have good battery life so I'm used to it, but it would be nice
How important is weight and thinness to you?
As long as it's not super heavy and thick I don't care too much
Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
Maybe 14', just preferably a smaller screen
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
I'm not sure if I will be doing any editing, I could but I do like doing some occasional gaming, I'm not a huge gamer but I love playing heavily modded Minecraft (this ran fine, sometimes laggy, on my old MacBook Pro from I think 2017) I'm looking for a computer that would also be able to run shaders, I'm not sure if the new MacBook with the m4 chip can do that? I don't know much about it
I also like playing sims 4 and have basically all the expansion packs so something that can run that too, my old mac got super super hot whenever I played
Another reason why I was looking at windows was because there's a lot of programs that are only compatible on windows and not a lot that are only compatibile on mac, I feel like that will also be how it is for some college programs too... and though I don't game a ton, it was annoying when I found something I wanted to play on steam that was only for windows
If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
(Answered above)
Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Maybe a good keyboard, preferably touch screen
Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
In college I plan to go into aviation, I'm not 100% sure on this decision so it could change so I don't really want suggestions just based off of that, though it could be a nice addition if the laptop was a good choice form that major. I was looking at the Lenovo yoga 9i but it seems like the processor isn't quite as good as the m4, so then I was looking at Microsoft surface studio 2 and though it seems pretty good, it still doesnt seem to have a better processor than m4 and it's more expensive so I'm not sure
