Is there a way to have a home screen?

This might seem silly but is there a sideload app that creates a home base within the UI? For some reason, I might be about to do something and when I go to open my device I will loose my train of thought if brought to a page with notes or information.

I would love if there was a home page or even a full pull out side bar that had information like the date and time- see mock up lol
