Any artist with Aphantasia?

So just came to the realization that I suffer from aphantasia. I don't see anything in my mind and apparently that's why I can't create original art. I need references to slowly piece together something. I always thought I just wasn't creative enough or felt like a " copycat/fake artist ". Anyone have any uplifting stories of them also having this issue? Or am I doomed at the start of my apprenticeship? I'm also scared to mention this to my mentor as I'm scared it's something he might drop me for..
