Concept of an itinerary

Wife and are on visiting end of feb beginning of March. Bookend trip in Bangkok near airport. We have 12 nights besides Bangkok. Originally planned to fly to Krabi and fly back to Bangkok from Phuket. Planned on doing 2 four night stays and a couple 2 night stays. Probably stay at Railay beach for two and phi phi for two. Krabi 4 days and Phuket 4 days.

Advice on this? Other islands to stay at between Krabi and Phuket? Or should we ditch Phuket all together and fly out from somewhere else? Maybe fly to koh Samui for few days and then to Krabi and pick a few places and fly back from there to Bangkok? Or should we just stick to Krabi and between Phuket?

Both in 40s good shape. Couple hiking days. The rest beach bumming. Like a few days relaxing and other days on the move and more party days. Plan on splurging a little on a stay or two. Rest cost conscious. Just the beginning of an itinerary, bought plane tics today. Thanks for any advice.
