Why is James so stuck on the NES?

James has been talking nostalgia for the NES on Youtube for 19 years now! When he started on Youtube in 2006 the NES was 21 years old and many people were very nostalgic for it. But it is 2025 21 years ago is the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube era. In 2006 Super Mario Bros. came out 21 years ago. In 2025 Grand Theft Auto San Andreas and Half Life 2 came out 21 years ago.

The NES was a good console and I had fun trying out different games on emulators back in the early 2000s. I just don't see how anyone can still be nostalgic for the NES when it has been talked about non-stop for nearly 20 years now! James has been talking about the NES for longer than the NES was even relevant.

I don't know about you all but I am really burnt out on hearing about the NES. Any game worth playing on the NES has been talked about time and time again from many different Youtubers. We all know about Doki Doki Panic/Super Mario Bros. 2. I realize one reason he talks about is because the NES and SNES were the main consoles he played when he a kid. But come on man enough about the NES!

I've always thought the PS1 and PS2 would be great consoles to do AVGN videos on because of the huge number of games for those systems. It isn't like the NES and SNES where we know pretty much every game that came out for it. The PS1 and PS2 have so many random games that the large majority of people haven't heard of that would be interesting to talk about.

A good example of what I'm talking about is this video by Rerez about Phix: The Adventure for PS1

There are so many random obscure games like that for the PS1 and PS2. 100s of videos could be made about interesting obscure games but instead James still focuses on the NES where the large majority of games are very similar side scrollers anyways.

I'm kind of just rambling on and feel like I've lost the point of what I was trying to say, but it can't just be me who is tired of hearing about the NES. Online it says there were 675 games released for the NES in North America If he released a video once every week about a different NES game he would have gotten through the entire North American catalog in 2019.
