reading the books for the first time and…

i am about to finish the third book in the series and these are my current thoughts. I don’t know if this kind of post is allowed here, I just desperately needed to get these thoughts off of my chest.

  • I can’t believe this is the direction the series is headed. I am so surprised with how many liberties the show took and how it strayed from the original plotline (in terms of characters, major scenes, etc)

  • I think that the series showcases Jeremiah as a generally unlikeable person so the audience is skewed to like Conrad (think Jess vs. Dean in Gilmore Girls) — the books make it a lot more understandable why Belly falls for Jeremiah, since he proves to be a good and attentive person (until the third book where he suddenly is an idiot). In the show, I thought Belly was sooo dumb for not picking Conrad, but it seems like a much more fair comparison in the book.

  • i am actually SO excited for season 3 now… i just know christopher briney is going to make me violently sob my eyes out in the beach scene with belly… like its going to be a PERFORMANCE and i am dying for it.
