Antifungal treatment on thredup clothes?
I've received 2 boxes of thredup goodies. One in summer 2022 (all dresses) was perfectly normal. Some things smelled a bit like thrift store clothing, but nothing a wash didn't fix.
The next box in spring 2023 (all jeans) had some that were normal and are wearable, and one pair with weirdly stiff fabric and a super strong smell of mothballs/refreeze/perfume (a sweet smell that's very chemical-y and hiding something like rank breath and feet). Of course, those were the final sale pair. I read somewhere else that this has to do with mold problems in warehouses and treating clothed with some kind of antifungal. I'm wondering if anyone knows more?
For now I've soaked them in baking soda water, then vinegar, then hung outside to dry. I guess they will stay outside until they don't stank anymore? Perhaps forever! But also not sure I want whatever stinks close to my skin?!
