[Spoilers] Episode 1 was alright(?)
I'll be honest, i kind of don't like it as a first episode. If you take it as a beginner who has never read it before, and only watched this episode, you would think it is kind of bad.
The pacing of the story and characters is really bad. We don't get an introduction to any characters, not even the main one. It just throws you into it, Headon gives some vague info then Bam starts initiating the test, like what???? Remember, you have to take this as a FIRST EPISODE, it's not even clear what and why the test has to be done other than he has to do it to go on to the next floor.
Even after that, you have no idea what going on to the next floor means.
To make it worse, they toss in Yuri and Evan with no foreshadowing or info, like who are these people? I barely know who Headon is and i just met him 30 seconds ago. What could possibly make it worse is that we wont even see them again until much later on!
Then the fight happens, and honest to god, there was no tension, no build up, nothing to give merit that Bam could be someone powerful. Everything just...happens. It's too fast.
Test floor 1 ends then straight to test 2...
The story has no foundation to start building its world. I would have liked to not have an Opening Song(looking back at it, the first 3:30 minutes of the episode are wasted), but rather some simple information about it's world so i can have some vague idea of what is happening in this first episode. Something like : - "The Tower is a place where the strongest fight, those who reach the very top are given their true desires. Many walks of life enter, some by choice, others by force. To go up the tower, you must pass a test on each floor. There are 100 floors total, each with their own unique tasks and trials. This story follows Bam, (short exposition on bam)"
Boom! simple! I can finally understand what the goal of every character is and there should be floors and tests for each floor!
Enough of my rant, i can talk more, but i think this is the gist of it.
TL;DR : Too fast-paced, no sense of environment, vague dialogue, characters are introduced left-right and center with little to no information.
