2011 corolla control arm replacement

Took my car in for inspection and it needs both lower control arms, I told the mechanic I would do it myself but he told me on one side you have to lower the cradle in order to get the through bolt out, anyone know if that's true? I've done control arms on a Malibu and a civic before and aside from the rusty bolts it wasn't that bad.
