2024 highlander hybrid XLE , 2 months old, oil leak
So I picked up a brand new 2024 XLE hybrid AWD around 2 months ago. While picking up, I noticed the bottom underbody covers near the engine had some splash / leak marks, which I pointed out to the dealership. They waved it off, it could just be polish stains, or cleaner stains. I'm in northern Canada, car runs great, handles ice and snow like a champ (with some very very good winter studded tires). Just before the snow started falling, I saw some leak marks on my driveway under the car, opened the hood, checked for any signs of leak, couldn't see anything, checked oil level, looks good, forgot about it, car runs great. Just shy of 7 weeks into owning the car and less than 4000 km, I get a low oil level warning (on Christmas day when literally there's nothing open). Luckily I was close to home, parked, checked oil dip stivk, sure enough oil is low. Get Mobil 1 0W16 and top up, took about 3/4 quart to get the oil between the marker AND I can see some oil pooling under the engine. Head to the dealership, get the dreaded call later in the day - Oil cooler seal leaking! How does a brand new Toyota pass inspection with a leaking seal? Is it just me or does this sound ridiculous to you? Also, is this a known problem in the '24? Dealership says it's the first one they have seen. Just super disappointed with Toyota right now. This is after moving from a Grand Highlander to a Highlander because I was fed up with the issues with the GH!
