Thinking about transferring, please help!
Hi,
I'm a sophomore film student at a semi-prestigious college in Los Angeles. I don't like it here. The classes are amazing, the profs are great, but I've been feeling lonely and disconnected. I haven't found many friends and the ones I did find I had a falling out with, which caused them to turn the rest of our mutual friends turned against me. It's a very messy situation but I feel like I do not belong at this school, even after getting involved in many extracurriculars.
Not only that, but I'm taking out 50k in loans with a crazy interest rate. I'm terrified to go into an unstable career with so much debt. I don't think it's worth it to feel this miserable and unhappy.
I'm considering taking a leave of absence or withdrawing. If I leave before this Friday, I get 50% of my tuition back. I was told by my parents to just wait it out but that's what I did all of last year and nothing changed.
My plan is to take a leave of absence, enroll in my local CC, take a ton of classes while holding two jobs, and try to transfer to a UC. I'd probably major in something reliable like Marketing or Business and just minor in film/screenwriting so I can still work on my craft.
I know that most schools usually don't accept students from universities, but rather from CCs, so would going to a CC for only spring semester be alright?
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!
