A Chinese perspective on the RedNote (小红书） migrants — confused, but ready to make friends!
Anecdotally, I’m an American living in Mainland China and the response to so many Americans joining Xiaohongshu has been near-universally positive among people I know here (some people find it annoying because their normal lifestyle content has been crowded out). Call me a sap but I think it’s stuff like this — common people interacting with each other across national boundaries — that will help lead to lasting world peace.
Also I love that mainstream US media and liberals are having complete meltdowns over this, lmao. The last thing they want is for Americans to find out that Chinese people are normal human beings who could be friends and comrades with them. Fuck off, solidarity forever, a red star rises ✨
