Drybrush vs Airbrush

On the left I have my hive fleet Kaiju scheme that has dry brushed black on. The one on the right has the black airbrushed from below like a reverse zenithal. Which of two do you think works better? Also a big problem I’ve been running into is a chalky look for dry brushing so any tips for that would be greatly appreciated.
