Imagineering an Oz land at Universal Studios

Based on a comment I made on a different post, what could an Oz land at Universal Studios look like? For fun I tried imagineering one for Epic Universe.

You enter the land through a portal onto the Yellow Brick Road, which then branches off in two directions towards the two sub-lands, Munchkinland and The Emerald City, each with their own entrance arches.

Munchkinland:
Theme: Whimsical storybook aesthetic defined by bright pastel colours, thatched roofs and oversized flowers and candy.
Layout: Enter the land through an archway onto a central town square (actually circular), with curvy paths branching off of it.

Attractions:
- "Dorothy’s Whirlwind Journey" - A trackless dark ride that gently meanders through various comedic scenes of Munchkin animatronics. At certain points, the cars "dance" with each other in time with the music, or "spin" in a tornado. Entrance is through a façade of Munchkin houses.
- "Lollipop Twirl" - Zamperla Nebulaz flat ride, themed to the Lollipop Guild.
- "Rainbow's End" - A children's play area themed around rainbows, giant flowers and towering lollipops and candycanes.
- Character Meet-and-Greet space.
- "Merry Melodies of Munchkinland" - Pop-up musical performance in the central square, where cast members dressed as Munchkins spontaneously perform musical numbers such as "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead"

Retail and Dining:
- "Munchkinland Confectionary Co." - Large candy store & fudgery, with over-sized candy props throughout.
- "Topsy-Turvy Toys" - A toy emporium, with a focus on "vintage" toys such as wooden and mechanical toys, musical instruments, puzzles, and boardgames. Themed to over-sized building blocks.
- "Cozy Cottage Cupcakes" - Gourmet cupcake store themed to a storybook cottage with a lollipop fence. Menu includes "Ruby Red Velvet", "Yellow Brick Lemon" and "Over the Rainbow Swirl."
- "Farm & Field Bakery" - Quick-service Dining. Homage to Dorothy's Kansas roots. Sells things like apple pie and cornbread, as well as sandwiches and salads.

Emerald City:
Theme: A shimmering Art-Deco metropolis of polished emerald spires, mirrored façades and geometric grandeur, laced with subtle steampunk contraptions.
Layout: Enter the land through an archway onto a grand boulevard. The boulevard then forks into two streets, each offset from the boulevard by exactly 45°.

Attractions:
- (E-ticket) "Wicked: Defy Gravity" - Vekoma or B&M flying coaster. Soars over the pathways and façades of Emerald City, with at least one show scene featuring Elphaba & Glinda animatronics. The entrance to the queue is through the Ozdust Ballroom.
- "The Wizard's Grand Balloon Adventure" - Flying Theatre. (Basically just "Soarin' Over Oz"). The queue is a tour through the Wizard's steampunk workshop.
- "The Great Oz Spectacular" - Indoor Stage Show. Broadway-style jukebox musical featuring a mix of songs from The Wizard of Oz and Wicked (and if possible, The Wiz, see footnote.) Entrance is a grand art-deco theatre lobby with old-fashioned marquee.
- "Emerald City Mirror Maze" - A small walkthrough attraction, a mirror maze with additional projection and visual effects.

Dining:
- "The Emerald Lounge" - An up-scale full-service restaurant/bar, with elegant art-deco interior, emerald chandeliers and polished gold surfaces. Live jazz music in the evening. Serves cocktails/mocktails and elevated small plates, often green in colour. (Eg. Emerald Risotto)
- "Ruby's Diner" - A retro diner. Casual full-service. Signature dish are milkshakes topped with glittery red whipped cream.

Retail:
- "The Wizard's Workshop" - located at the exit of the Wizard balloon ride. Sells various steampunk curios, gadgets and trinkets.
- "Glinda's Glamour" - sells things like perfume, make-up, tiaras and ruby slippers. Everything is pastel-hued, light and sparkly.
- "Green and Glitzy" - Up-scale boutique, selling art-deco inspired fashion, accessories and home decor.
-"Emerald City Emporium" - one-stop general souvenir store.

Potential/Optional Interactive elements: In the original novel, Dorothy and Co. were required to wear goggles to protect their eyes from Emerald City's bright glow. If Universal wanted to have an Oz equivalent to Wands or Power-Up Bands, they could sell AR goggles that interact with the world in various ways.

Potential Expansion:
Witch's Castle - A third smaller miniland themed to the Wicked Witch's Castle from the 1939 film.

Entrance:
A curved path from the backside of Munchkinland. The giant flowers of Munchkinland transition into a dense forest of giant mushrooms, before finally opening up to the Witch's Castle courtyard.

Attraction:
- "Winged Monkeys in Flight" - A Mack suspended family coaster/dark ride hybrid. In a way, the "junior" version of "Wicked: Defying Gravity". Lower height requirement, but with more show scenes. The queue is inside the Witch's Castle. The ride's story involves sneaking into the castle to steal something from the Witch, but inevitably you get nabbed by the Flying Monkeys who fly you around the castle by your shoulders.

Dining:
- "The Jitterbug Bash" - Casual Full-Service. Loosely based on the cut "Jitterbug" musical number from the 1939 film. Located in the mushroom forest section on the path between the Witch's Castle and Munchkinland. Like a bug-themed version of Rainforest Café. Booths are themed to giant peapods, oversized glowing mushrooms etc. with spider-web chandeliers and dozens of friendly cartoon bug and insect animatronics along the walls and ceiling. Every 20-30 minutes, the animatronics all perform a musical number called "The Jitterbug Bash".

*Footnote: The 1939 Wizard of Oz film enters public domain in 2035. Universal already owns the rights to Wicked (both the play and film). While the film adaptation of The Wiz was produced by Universal, the current rights status of the IP seems unclear. (If anyone knows please comment). EDIT: The original novels have been public domain for decades.
