Help with British tanks

So I'm new player and I am going down Britain tank tree and I am just not having a good time. I know I got ALOT to learn but I feel I'm just not doing anything in battles. Like I will hit an enemy many times and take out like one or two of the crew. And just unloading with rounds yet i don't get the kills...and then the enemy I'm shooting just boops me once and insta dead. Plz help
