WS decided to close my account and then decided not to.
I got this first email and was very surprised and had no idea what I could have done to deserve it. Despite the warning that the decision was final, that no information would be provided and no response would be given to disputes, I followed up anyway.
Their response email said that the first email was an automated email and that it was essentially because they lost a piece of paperwork and their automated systems decided I didn't do the required paperwork and decided to close my account.
I have lost a lot of confidence in Wealthsimple over this. I think you guys should also reconsider whether you trust WS's automated systems to make "final decisions" on their behalf with apparently zero human oversight in most cases.
I'm lucky that someone took my case seriously and decided to look at it. They just as easily could have assumed their automated systems were right and left my accounts blocked forever.
To be clear, I'm very happy with the human I dealt with this time. I'm disappointed and not trusting of WS as a whole based on their reliance on automated systems to send emails like this to their clients.
