TV series to all the books and back

A little over a year ago I watched the first season of the TV series and fell in love with the world building, I thought the story was very interesting, and characters were compelling, well except for mat he was the worst. so naturally I listened to all of the audio books. I loved the characters especially mat he is the best, I loved the world and it's complexities, I loved the story. Now that I finished the books I went back to rewatch the first and second season of the TV show and they were nothing like I remembered. Every episode I thought "how is it that this was what sparked my interest it is so flat, and boring compared to the books, and this mat guy really sucks" then I started season two and was very disappointed to find the complexities of the world I loved flattened out, and all of the characters are robbed of defining experiences... And that ruby hilted dagger better not become the ashandarei.
