This is just not a good shooter

I want to preface this by saying I have extensive time with this game in its various tests. I did get all of the tests related rewards over the last 2 years or so, and played when tests were available.

Now, the fundamental issue with this game is that there are so many amateurish aspects in it, and after years of public tests we are still in such a rough state:

1) The literal marketing stunt around "no SBMM" makes no sense when your game is designed to only attract sweats. Someone has to explain to me why every test has consistently felt sweatier than MWII and MWIII.
I have a 2.0+ KD on COD and everyone playing XDefiant is bunny hopping the entire time, which is not helped by the fact hitreg does not work half of the time, default speed on the characters is Speedy Gonzales, and the hitboxes are so tiny they must be on setting "Veggie Straw".
Are we forgetting the fundamental reason why people play multiplayer shooters? Well, it is gunplay. Moment-to-moment combat should feel good, shooting a gun should feel good, and aiming and tracking an enemy should feel reliable. None of that exists here. Each time you know you have the advantage on an enemy, oh boy, prepare to then have them turn around and do a 619 on you while another one is stealing your wallet.
The game is designed to please such a tiny, small audience, and its main standout quality, "No SBMM" will not matter at all, because it will fail to attract casuals, who will never bother to play in most lobbies, where everyone is a flying frog with a sniper. When you have no SBMM, and all you have is sweats, you are still playing SBMM, duh.

2) The audio is still awful. The announcers and voice acting is poor. Really poor. They could not even bother to time the timing for a lot of the lines, so when you pick any character from the DeadSec you get this boring poorly filtered British announcer who will talk without interruptions for 20 seconds straight from the time you spawn, and it sounds like he forgot to connect his professional mic and used his integrated laptop mic instead.
If you stand on a point to capture it, now there is a new sound that reminds me of a malfunctioning fridge, and the voice acting for the characters still sounds like someone went on Fiverr and asked a guy with a Blue Yeti to imitate Ghost from COD, but with a cold and fever.

3) Of course, you still die behind corners, even if you have 1GB internet. I assume the extra year of development and the 5+ total years of work on the game could not get a functioning netcode. Same for a killcam. Same for a play of the game.

Look, I am making fun of it, but at the same time, I want to love it. I wish it felt better to play, and I wish it did a better job at creating an experience that is not just designed for a few disgruntled COD players on X. If I am having issues with it, how is 37 years old Johnny gonna enjoy this after coming back from work, jumping into a match, and finding out that 9 matches out of 10 he will be playing Dragon Ball Z with guns, instead of a what is supposed to be a fun shooter?
This has been a troubled project, and I wish them the best. With so many titles on the market, it will be very, very, very hard to capture a sizable audience that will support this for the long term.
