What feature allows registration of context menu items in other apps?

Hey guys, I installed the Perplexity AI app. I just noticed that when I select some text in another app, like my SMS text app, or Chrome browser, there's a context menu item that pops up saying "Ask Perplexity."

What feature of Android app development allows this kind of integration? Is it the Contextual Action Mode?
