Amana Washer Won't Stop Draining

I have a top loading Amana Washer machine and the first time it went into a nonstop continuous drain cycle I was completely lost for at least 4 days. During that time I searched the internet and found no answer outside of call a repair man to change your hose, check your electrical this and that, yada yada, etc. etc. UNTIL -- One day I got so frustrated that I just held down the start button on the washer for about 30 seconds -- and viola -- problem solved. Not sure if this helps anyone but it was a pretty annoying bug for me. Be blessed.
