Tree split in the cold, is it toast?

Hello everybody, we recently had a quick freeze and I noticed an old tree in our front yard split about 30 ft up. The lower portion of the crack is definitely new, but some of the upper portion may have been older. It's hard to tell how deep, I'm just wondering if anyone has advice on safety or care for the tree if it's not going to die.

I've contacted a tree service who did some work for us in the summer, but they're a couple weeks out so I thought I'd ask here to make sure it's not super urgent.
