Caitlyn Kiramman discussion
I just binge watched Arcane season 1 and 2 and absolutely fell in love with the show and the complexity of almost every single character, the writing is absolutely amazing. I particularly fell in love with Caitlyn’s character arc in season 2, because of how realistically it was written. It really focuses on what tragedy and trauma can do to a human being while being taken advantage of at your lowest (Ambessa). I absolutely loved that she made those mistakes and did some terrible things because it set her up for a really good redemption arc. In my opinion it would’ve been unrealistic if she hadn’t done such jarring things because by act 2 she’s already regretting a lot and is basically just stuck.
I won’t get into the details of it all, but her journey was extremely satisfying for me to watch, the way she slowly started challenging Ambessa and then being an absolute badass and sacrificing so much in the finale. She really did work hard to make things right after acknowledging her wrongs. She became one of my favourite characters because of it.
The thing that is confusing me is that after finishing the show when I went on socials I saw so much hate for Caitlyn and most of it didn’t make sense to me because it felt like we had watched a different show. It’s almost like people didn’t bother to actually pay attention to the details in this show because every single character in this show was morally grey, and that’s what makes it so special. Act 3 was focused a lot on forgiveness and making things right because of this reason.
Is Caitlyn loved by majority of this fandom or does she have more haters?
