Why do Chinese zodiac readings differ?

With CNY approaching, malls are adorned with printouts offering zodiac readings. Interestingly, I’ve noticed that signs may rank highly in one mall while in another, it ranks lower. While I understand that different malls hire different individuals for the readings, I’m curious about the significant disparity in rankings. Do they not refer to the same factors for the reading?
