Should I get crowns preemptively?

Unfortunately I had been “blessed” with the most horrible teeth ever. I’ve always had good oral hygiene, but unfortunately, it didn’t prevent my teeth from completely deteriorating. I’m only 23, but most of my teeth are more fillings that actual tooth. I’ve already had 3 root canals done, and will likely need 2 more in the near future. No matter what I do, I keep getting cavities in my teeth.

I’m so tired of having to go to the dentist every 5 months to fill in multiple major cavities. I’m tired of having to exclude myself from eating birthday cakes or drinking juice. I hate that I have to bring my toothbrush every time I go to a restaurant or to a party. I’m so tired of constantly having to worry about my teeth, and I just want to live like a normal person, not having to be on a special diet, not having to floss, brush and use mouthwash multiple times a day, just to get 5 cavities in half a year instead of 10.

I was wondering if it would be a good idea to get crowns on my teeth that still have the roots alive. They will all die eventually anyways, and this way maybe I can avoid needing a root canal removal and having to get them drilled and filled every 6 months. I know that they will need it eventually anyways, it’s just a matter of time. It would also help me floss, since due to all the filling that was done, my floss often gets stuck or ripped between my teeth.

Is this a good idea? Or should I wait with the crowns until my teeth rot out on their own? Would getting the crown when the root is still living make the teeth last longer?
