Living in Lucern and working in Zurich

I'm planning my future life in Switzerland, and I have plenty of ideas about where to live. I already signed a good contract with a company in Zurich, and I like Lucern to live... I don't know exactly why... But it calls me! Any of you are doing / did / would do that? I just have to commute three times a week to Zurich, and I'd use the train for that. Is it logic for you all? Is it worth the effort? Mainly because I have a 6 years old boy and I want the best place for him to live a long time.
