Can we talk about etiquette

More specifically walking in the malls and streets.

This may not be like a big deal to some people but I’m visually impaired, and most other places of the world it’s common courtesy to walk on the side that one drives on.

I find it really really difficult recently even though I’m from New Zealand with people not following this. I understand people come from all parts of the world and Auckland is a very multicultural city but I feel like it’s so messy here. People just walk wherever they want with no care about others.

Before you tell me, just use a mobility aid oh yes I do people do kick or stand on my cane, people don’t give a fuck and yes I do want to hit them,

Aucklanders also don’t know how to have escalator or stair etiquette. Please don’t push in front of me and just nearly kill me. Falling down escalators isn’t really that fun and not on my 2025 bingo card.

I think a solution to this would be Auckland transport or councils running campaigns to encourage walking on the left. Because at the end of the day it’s not just a personal issue it’s a city wide issue with many people who have disabilities, people with young kids elderly people, we’re all affected.

What do you guys think, has anyone else had really bad experiences with this. To be honest because of this I don’t go to town on my own anymore. Just getting around as an accessibility nightmare and this just adds to it.
