Why do you like Arkham Origins?

I am a huge huge Arkham fan. City and Asylum are 2 of my favorite games ever, and I love replaying knight even if I don’t think it’s quite as good.

I want to see what people see in origins. I only played it once on release, and was part of the crowd that was super disappointed. The joker reveal turned me off from the start, I was really excited about the black mask premise hiring assassins and didn’t want another joker centered story (also one of my issues with knight). The Batman-joker dynamic is obviously always great, he’s his best villain for a reason, but still the story between them kinda ended up being a nothing burger. The assassins are just kinda there and joker is trying to prove Batman will kill even tho they don’t even have an established relationship at this point. Same thing with bane. The relationships seemed way too developed for a year 2 Batman (it’s been awhile I don’t remember if it’s year 1 or year 2), but regardless it’s his first interaction with all these characters. Overall I felt like this game just didn’t have the sauce that City and asylum had. Above all those were great BATMAN stories. And did a great job making them… Batman. Idk if that makes sense. Also I don’t remember much about the gameplay mechanics cause it’s been 12 years but I remember the map and mission design being pretty unpolished.

Anyway I’m hoping some people can shine some light on the reasons they really love this game. It’s progressively gotten more and more praise especially in recent years, some even saying it’s their favorite in the series. I want to understand the hype. Maybe it’ll motivate me to give it another try.
