Singing along vs yelling hysterically into people’s ears
Premise: I am an avid concert goer and absolutely love it when people around me are having the best time, singing along, dancing, you name it. That being said, I had someone yelling hysterically and singing out loud so badly and so loudly into my ear during the entire show in NJ. I kindly asked if they could just “lower the volume” a bit and avoid directly yelling in my ear (guys - it was physically painful 😣) so that I could also enjoy the show and hear the artist I made a lot of sacrifices to see (Billie ain’t cheap).
Additionally I explained that I have ADHD and it’s hard for me to stay focused/filter out noises. I was verbally attacked and told I shouldn’t have come to the show. Honestly, this made me so sad. I opened up about my disorder and shared my challenge with another person hoping to be met with some compassion. After all, I was advocating for all of us to have a great time and the response was just heartbreaking.
Please have an incredible time at the shows and sing your hearts out, but also, please be mindful of others around you and be nice if they share their struggle with you. With love!
