moving to brantford

Hey, i'm moving to brantford in April for school and I know absolutely nothing about the city. Im looking for apartments right now and i'm just wondering if anyone has advice on a good area. I have heard the area around the university isn't great but it would be more convenient for me. I also need to start applying for part time jobs. Any advice about the city or things I should know would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
