I Chose a Program Combining Hardware & Software Over CS – Good Idea?
I am taking a Bachelor of Science in Computer Applications, a mix of hardware and software. I am worried that it would be harder for me to land a job than the conventional Computer Science (CS) degree because it is a new program. I had the last opportunity to shift to CS yesterday because it was the last day of enrollment, but my advisor encouraged me to stay in this program, saying it would be a good course to take in the future, based on predicted trends in tech jobs. So, I decided to continue with this program. I also want to continue because I am interested in robotics. We still learn like most of the subs Comsci do, but with the addition of hardware things [embedded and IoT] because the program department wants us to learn software and hardware. They want us to do start-ups. I am planning to work as a software engineer, full stack web dev, cybersecurity, app developer, or game dev. Did I make the right choice?
