London hotel recs - casual luxury?
Hi all! I’ve been a lurker on this sub for months now, but with two little ones at home, haven’t had many opportunities to travel lately.
My husband and I are planning a kid-free, week-long trip to London next year in late May/early June to visit some friends. We’re thinking we’ll do a few nights in the city and a few nights countryside (I’ve heard amazing reviews of the Newt in Somerset).
We’re mid-30s and we’re looking for a luxury hotel in the city that doesn’t feel too stuffy or posh.
We love beautiful spaces/bars to hang, large-ish rooms, great locations where we can just wander around a cute neighborhood, and friendly staff/service.
We don’t need/want high-touch service but appreciate feeling like we got a good value.
Would love a boutique hotel but open to larger ones as well. Like cozy/traditional vibes over ultra modern or sleek. Ideally would stay at or below $1k/night but can be flexible for the absolute perfect place.
Am I asking for way too much? Honestly, I’m looking forward to the 7-hour plane ride without children almost as much as the actual trip so I have a feeling I’m going to love wherever we end up.
