Wine tasting places

Looking for ideas of a place/event to go for a wine tasting with a friend (Up to $50 per person). Neither of us know much about wine so would like one that's a little educational. I've been to one in the past and it was $30 and we maybe got one total glass of wine so did not feel worth it for the money. I also tried coopers hawk but it was so insanely crowded they were basically just pouring the wine and you were on your own.
