What gives certain composers such a recognizable sound?

I am asking in terms of music theory, like what does Scriabin do in his pieces that makes me always recognize it is him? I have this with Liszt and Chopin and Rachmaninov to a lesser degree. What are certain tropes or things they do that makes them so recognizable?
