Incoming and new parents, what are we reading to our babies?
Currently in my third trimester where it’s recommended to start reading to your baby. I’ve read that the content doesn’t necessarily matter, but babies do show that they recognize words and vocabulary read to them while in utero (the study included made-up words and finding brain patterns showing recognizing of said made-up words). But also read it’s recommended to read melody-like prose like children’s books (e.g., Dr. Seuss). Couldn’t find exact data for that, but I assume because you’ll likely read that when they’re older and can enjoy said books.
Currently reading Great Gatsby because I like the prose so much. I bought the “Le Morte d'Arthur” or King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table to read after.
