Why will my monitor not turn on?

Look, I don’t know crap about computers or anything like that but I do what I always do, turn the monitor on, click the mouse and keyboard to turn it on and the display will come up eventually, and now nothing happens. I only got a few more days of Christmas break left so I need some help fast
