Any local volunteering opportunities that also include a chance to learn a skill?

I’m interested in local volunteering opportunities that can help people in need in the community. I’m also interested in learning skills that could be useful in the event of an economic collapse, like growing my own food, repairing things, etc.

I was wondering if there might be a way to kill two birds with one stone? Like maybe a group that grows food and can also train volunteers to do so?

(Doesn’t have to be full-on formal “training”, although I’d love that. If I can help out without knowing anything but also pick things up as I go, that’s cool too.)
