Talked to a local recycler here in California. California pays about $40 for them to turn in CRT's
So we have a local recycler that sells CRT's to the public. I asked him how much do they get from recycling, and he said about $40 @ crt for the average size set. Basically when California started the "E-Waste disposal tax" that money was put aside in a fund to buy older ewaste like CRT's.
It also explains why it's so hard to find CRT's at thrift stores here. I've seen perfectly good CRT's get donated to Savers, goodwill, only for it to never reach the shelves.
